Malcolm Cudmore

I am a full-time artist/tutor with a studio on the outskirts of Bungay. Originally trained and working in the performing arts, I attended Art College as a mature student in the late 1990s and have continued to develop my artwork and skills since.

I’m an observational artist - using traditional drawing and painting techniques to record experiences of the people and landscape around me. I paint in oils and draw with graphite and coloured pencils - demonstrating and running workshops for art groups across the UK. I prefer (and encourage my students) to work directly from life and am a member of various art groups - including others that also work outdoors - “en plein air”.

I run the Bungay Life Drawing Group which now meets most months (on a Sunday) at the Black Dog Judo Club in Popson Street, Bungay, NR351EB. Full details are on my website. My double DVD “Yes. You Can Draw!” has sold widely to artists and groups since it was launched in 2013. I am Chair of the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail (hwat.org.uk) - a group of local professional artists who open their studios to the public each year.
